I haven't been listening to a lot of music these past couple of months, but I happened to catch EELS performing live on my local news cast. They immediately caught my fancy with their sort of folksy- melancholy sound. If you focus on lyrics more than the "beat", if you have a streak of (dare I say it) emo in your soul, you will love this album.

International Fellowship of Christians and Jews

I usually don't put controversial charities on this website, but right now the news is filled with trouble in Israel and in the Ukraine so I'm making an exception. This month I'd like you to look at the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews rated 5 stars by the independent charity navigator website. I support this charity for a number of reasons. None of them have to do with the name.

Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries Volume One by Ashley Gardner
Publisher:  JA / AG Publishing (January 16, 2012)

I write about cavalrymen and about a certain captain who won my heart years ago. But I confess, I've been cheating on him with Captain Lacey, a gentleman of reduced circumstances scraping by in London on half-pay after the Peninsular war. Captain Lacey has a knack for finding things, missing persons, murders, and enemies. He is a complicated man with more baggage that a freight hauler. If you like mysteries, enjoy this period in history, but are a little tried of Regency romances, check out this series. You won't be sorry.
